Amazing News HTC To Stop Locking Phones

HTC’s phones were always known as been friendly towards those people who like to modify their handsets but, of late, most HTC devices have been locked down, making it tough – though not impossible – to customize with custom operating systems. HTC’s locking down of its bootloader code lead to the modding and developer communities to get up in arms and in a rather noisy fashion, demanding HTC return to its previous way of thinking. Today, in a rather strange move for a technology company, the CEO actually listened to his customers and reversed the decision. "There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience," Peter Chou, CEO of HTC posted on the company’s Facebook page.

This decision was greeted with an immediate out-pouring of love from the fans of HTC, most proclaiming their undying love for the Taiwanese company and promising to buy new phones as soon as they possibly could. When these unlocked bootloaders will be available is unclear from the statement but it is certainly promising to see a company take note of the comments from the people who pay its wages. Now if only all companies would listen to what we, as customers, want rather than telling us what we want – but that’s just too much to hope for we guess.
